Learning to Shoot Correctly from Day One

Here are some of the essential rules you must consider if you are serious about learning to shoot:

  • Every gun has the potential to harm or kill others. You must always treat it as if it is loaded.
  • Keep your finger off the trigger at all times until you are ready to shoot.
  • Never play with a gun or point it at something you do not plan on destroying.
  • Before shooting, identify your target but also consider what is past your intended target. Bullets often travel through the target and into whatever is beyond them.

Getting a certified instructor on board right away is going to give you the best start to learning to shoot. They can guide you through getting to know your firearm, using the proper ammunition, developing a proper grip, loading and unloading your firearm quickly and effectively, stances to use while shooting, routine maintenance of your firearm and more. With a lot of practice, focus and proper technique, you will find yourself quickly improving. Always focus on being accurate and safe and remember that there is always room for further improvement.
