Safety is one of our biggest priorities at ProShots. This includes safety when using our rifle range. We welcome new and veteran shooters to explore our range membership options and enjoy everything our range offers. However, we also want to ensure that our members follow the rules. Some of the more basic rifle range rules you might find when shooting are outlined below. For more specifics, you can talk to a member of our team.
- Always Handle a Firearm as if it’s Loaded: Treat the firearm as though it is always loaded, even if you think it is unloaded. This way of thinking encourages safe gun usage and lessens the chance of unintentional discharges.
- Be Mindful of Where the Muzzle Is Pointed: Always aim the gun’s muzzle downrange, at the target, or in a safe direction. Never aim a firearm at a person.
- Be Mindful of the Trigger: Until you’re ready to shoot, keep your finger outside the trigger guard and off the trigger. This keeps the firearm under control and helps prevent accidental discharges.
- Put on the Appropriate Safety Gear: It’s important to always wear the proper safety gear when in our rifle range. This includes things like eye and ear protection. To protect against loud noises and dangerous debris, wearing safety glasses and high-quality earmuffs or earplugs is vital.
- Be Aware of Your Environment: Pay attention to the people and things going on around you. Never handle your firearm when someone else is downrange, and show respect for other shooters’ personal space.
These are only a few of the basic rules that keep you and others safe while enjoying our rifle range. Our team will review additional rules with you before you enter the range.
