We at ProShots understand the importance of practicing new skills, which is why we run an indoor shooting range where you can practice your skill with firearms. If you are looking for a place to improve your technique or simply to keep your skills sharp, we encourage you to stop by our range. For those who are relatively new to firearms, we have put together this article to go over some essential shooting range etiquette guidelines you need to know.

Essential Shooting Range Etiquette

  • Do Not Bring Loaded Firearms to the Shooting Range – The first piece of shooting range etiquette and safety you need to know is that you should never bring loaded firearms to the range. Bringing a loaded gun creates the risk of unexpected discharge, and it can make the other shooters on the range uneasy, disrupting the calm, focused atmosphere necessary for effective practice.
  • Practice Proper Gun Handling Technique – Our second guideline for shooting range etiquette is to practice proper firearm safety. Always assume any firearm is loaded, and always keep the muzzle directed in a secure path, away from people. Until you are ready to shoot, your finger should remain off the trigger, etc.
  • Don’t Interrupt – A third key principle of shooting range etiquette is to never interrupt another shooter when they are in a string of fire. This is not only rude, as it disrupts the person’s focus, but it can be dangerous as well. Instead, if you want to talk to someone, observe them and wait until they are finished with their current round.
