Here at ProShots, we want to help you improve your shooting skills, and we have a top-of-the-line shooting range where you can practice them. Of course, your time at the range is limited, so it’s important to do all you can to maximize the amount of useful practice you are able to do. In this article, we’ll go over a few tips on how to get the most out of your time at the shooting range in order to help you use that time as effectively as possible.
- Practicing at Home- One way to get the most out of your time at the shooting range is to practice key skills when you’re at home. We recommend practicing with an unloaded firearm to master essential stances, such as a guardian position and a low guard, as well as important skills like acquiring targets quickly and switching between them rapidly. In addition, you should practice disassembling and cleaning your gun so that you can more easily handle things like misfires when you’re actually at the range.
- Practicing at the Range- Once you make it to the shooting range, the best way to improve your overall shooting ability is to focus on just one or two skills at a time. By drilling just a few fundamentals at a time, you help build neural pathways and commit the necessary motions to muscle memory, making it easier for you to develop good habits. A few skills that you may want to focus on include sighting multiple targets in a sequence, pressing the trigger without changing the sight picture, and reloading rapidly.
